Having played a starring role in Costa Rica’s World Cup campaign last summer, many felt this would be the season Joel Campbell would break into the Arsenal first team. However, Campbell now finds himself on loan at Villarreal after a poor start to the campaign.

However, as the game developed, Campbell’s impact waned and the Costa Rica international was substituted on the 71st-minute mark.

However he’s the sort of player that can get fans on the edge of their seats, and Arsene Wenger is clearly not willing to give up on him just yet. Campbell will hope regular football with Villarreal will boost his chances of staying at the Emirates next season.
