Gareth Bale’s career at Real Madrid is suffering because his team-mates are not passing to him, the player’s agent, Jonathan Barnett, said on Saturday night.
Bale, the world’s most expensive footballer, was criticised for his display in the Champions League semi-final first leg against Juventus last Tuesday, when he made fewer passes than most of his team?mates. Yet official Uefa statistics showed that he covered more ground than many of those team-mates, suggesting he is being starved of the ball by other Real players.
Pundits Roy Keane, Paul Scholes and Lee Dixon were all critical of the Wales winger, 25, but Barnett rounded on those critics, pointing to the fact that Bale covered an average of 113 metres per minute, more than five team-mates including Cristiano Ronaldo (101) yet had only 32 touches of the ball.

“We’ve been vindicated by these statistics and it’s what we’ve been saying all along,” Barnett told Telegraph Sport. “It proves that people don’t know what they’re talking about when they criticise Gareth, they are not looking at it properly.
“Real have to work with Gareth and pass the ball to him more. Give him more of the ball and let him show everybody what he’s good at. He’s going to be the best player at Real Madrid when his team-mates work with him and help him. Hopefully Real will come to terms with this.
“I’m very upset that professional pundits don’t realise these facts. Instead of criticising, they should look at it more closely because it’s plain to see when you watch the games.”

But Bale"s representative Jonathan Barnett said involving the world"s most expensive player more in games could be the answer, rather than criticising his lack of impact.
