No one doubted Barcelona would win in Athens, least of all Barcelona. The Dream Team was a revolution, so was Cruyff.
His approach was counter-cultural , changing the parameters of the sport, turning convention on its head. It was successful too: Bar?a had just clinched an unprecedented fourth successive league. Before the 1994 European Cup final, Cruyff had already been pictured holding the trophy.
"Barcelona are favourites," Cruyff said. "We"re more complete, competitive and experienced than [in the 1992 final] at Wembley. Milan are
nothing out of this world . They base their game on defence, we base ours on attack."
To illustrate the point, Cruyff noted that while he had signed Romário, the Brazilian who had scored 30 in 33 games, Milan had spent the same on Marcel Desailly. "That," he said, "is telling."

-----------------
Michael Laudrup, the most important player in the Bar?a side according to most of his teammates, soon left for Real Madrid.
Michael Laudrup, the most important player in the Bar?a side according to most of his teammates, soon left for Real Madrid.

Michael Laudrup, the most important player in the Bar?a side according to most of his teammates, soon left for Real Madrid.
In 1994, he completed a controversial move from Bar?a to Real Madrid after he fell out with Johan Cruyff.
On this, Laudrup stated that he did not have a hidden agenda.
It was the year before the 1994 World Cup, and, according to Laudrup, because players usually suffer a drop in performance after such a major international tournament, he correctly predicted that Barcelona would not win major trophies the following season.
Despite widespread belief that Laudrup joined arch rivals Real Madrid in an attempt to "get back" at Cruyff, the decision was based on the fact that Madrid had been struggling for a long period and were eager to return to supremacy, like Barcelona were when he decided to join them.
Laudrup commented: "People say I wanted to go to Real Madrid just to get revenge. I say revenge from what? I"ve had a perfect time; five fantastic years here [at Barcelona]. I went to Madrid because they were so hungry to win, and they had four or five players who went to the World Cup. I said this would be perfect; new coach, new players, and hungry to win."
引用楼上渴求胜利什么的好理解,只是搞不懂他凭什么认为because players usually suffer a drop in performance after such a major international tournament, 所以he correctly predicted that Barcelona would not win major trophies the following season.
